? freebies requiring a phone#
When you see a freebie or sample that requires a phone#, what do you put in? Do you make up one or actually put in your real phone#? If you make one up, have you noticed that you don't ever get the item?
I've been putting in my hubbies cell# because he doesn't even turn his on half the time but he's getting a lot of calls from 800 numbers on it now. He ignores them and they never leave a voice mail but it's still a pain.
Curious to see what everyone else does. Thanks!

I put in my home phone. Register at the Do Not Call, and they wont call you. If you are on the list, it is illegal for them to.
https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx
They will email after you sign up, you will need to confirm it.

i NEVER ever use a real number, ever
i got a package one time and i had to call ups because they were trying to set up a delivery time and couldnt reach me. i did and they said the # they had they called the people said they receive calls for me all the time. i felt bad so i changed my fake number....in hine sight patty's idea is better, guilt free!

I have a prepaid cell phone and there is like 4 cents on it so I get to keep the number but the incoming calls do not cost anything and I just never answer it, turn it off or with the little amount of change I keep on it it doesn't even ring but like I said I still get to keep the number.

I used to do that when I had a landline home phone (went completely wireless now) but they stilled called. I called my phone company and asked if it was legal for them to call me even though I was on the "do not call" list and they said yes, they can call. The reason being is that I initiated a transaction with that company by requesting a freebie.
By the way, you can register cell phone numbers on the do not call list also. Every number we have is registered with them.

Its a form of harassment if they call you, and you can slap them with a harassment suit.
We have had all of our numbers on the list for a few years, and since then, I havent gotten any at all. And yes, you can put your cell on there.
