DEEDEE'S POLL OF THE WEEK....DO YOU DYE YOUR HAIR?

Okay, let's get a little bit personal this time....I want to know how many of you out there own stock in Lady Clairol, like I do????? My hair has been salt and pepper grey since I was in my early 20's. And now its more salt than pepper. So who among you is willing to admit it?
And you can always leave a comment about why you do and what color, but only if you want.

I personally have dyed my hair for years. When I was in my 30's I always went red, but now I am in my 40's and I stick closer to my natural hair color of dark brown. But every once in awhile I get a wild hair and go back to dark auburn. But I haven't had the guts in a long long time to go back to red red.
About three or four years ago I thought I wanted to go au naturel....I walked into this party and this young woman was sitting on the couch and she says to me "hey, dude, I like your hair!" You see I have this white white white streak just in the bangs and the rest is salt and pepper. I had let it grow all the way out to its natural state and I think she thought I streaked it. So I said to her "hey dude, its grey!" She says in a flat tone "oh"....well, needless to say i went right home and colored it!!!

i do....BUT lately i have let my natural hair color come out(dark brown)...its ok but i may end up coloring again

Nope My mom had it highlighted for my bros wedding though. Special occasion!!

I have had virgin hair all my life and still do. Not showing any greys yet so I don't need to and like the color of my own hair. Plus I did go to cosmotology school and needed 3 more months to get my license but I quit for personal reasons but I still cut my daughters hair and my husbands hair and my mom's when I get to see her and other people have payed me on the side to cut their hair. My mom was also a beautian for like 7 years. And well, she did work in a hair salon for 7 years after that she too cute hair on the side. For friends and family. Personally dying your hair is bad for it. It dry your hair, so I don't do it unless I absolutely have to when I'm showing grey to the point like salt and pepper. If not then I won't but if I do later on and show signs of really bad greying I think when I'm old I'll just do the highlights first.

as a hairdresser i use to highlight my hair not alot just to add to my style... i have natural red hair and honestly i dont think i would look good any other color i have the peaches and cream skin with bright blue eyes i think other colors would look funny... and plus with being a hair dresser people already think the red is fake i think the red hair adds to my personality i am a red headed spit fire and very fisty it fits me

you should be a wild women and go back for the red i am a natural red head and honestly i think the men are going for red heads more these days (of course those days come after i am married )

Like I said, every now and then I go with the auburn....it makes me feel younger, that is for sure.

In the past I have dyed my hair, mostly for a fun change. I have medium brown hair with red highlights (thanks mom!) so I had done auburn or auburn brown, once I did burgundy and I loved it. But now, I am getting far too many gray hairs (that are getting too many to keep plucking) for a 34 year old so now I will be doing it cause I am self conscious about it. Plus, I have a 6 year old niece that tells it like it is and I don't need her to point out those hairs.

My grandma went gray in her 50's..well, actually it was a lovely white color and everyone used to ask her if she dyed it and she got irritated all of the time.

I was born a natural strawberry blonde, my sister was a redhead. Even in high school people thought I colored my hair.
Now my sister dyes her hair blonde and I tried strawberry blonde but didn't like it on me. So I tried this red and at first I was shocked but I got so many compliments on it......"it brightens up your face, etc.".....At first I wouldn't leave the house for 4 days....hahaha

As a matter of fact, I just colored it yesterday.

My grandson was born with DARK RED hair, but he will be four this month and it has lightened up to a strawberry blond, well a little redder than a strawberry blond, but i think that is what it will end up being. My daughters were both blond as children, Allese had beautiful strawberry blond hair, it looked like it came out of a box, but they both darkened up over the years. I was born with jet black hair and it lightened to dark brown. But my great grandmother, who came west on a covered wagon, was white headed by the time she was 16.....her daughter (my grandmother) only had about 4 grey hairs when she died at age 74. My mother, maybe a few scattered grays. Me, I think I am shooting for the white headed look. Which if it was straight white, that would be one thing, but no, it looks so drab and dull when it is salt and pepper, so I dye it religiously!

I haven't colored my hair in eons! I have been getting more grays here and there! I have dark brown hair. Once I used the color, Plum Passion. Well, I really loved it. Kind of on the purple side, and, when under flourescent lighting, the grays just glowed purple. One of my supervisors asked me if I knew my hair was purple! I acted shocked. I'm surprised I wasn't written up for that one. Actually, I did that 2 or three times over the years. My mom loved it so much, I had to color hers that color too, and give her a spikey, sassy cut, and that's when she was in her 80's! No one could believe she was in her 80's. She always looked so youthful.
So, no, I just let it go natural now, but do have a nice cut. I'll leave it alone for now.

I pulled out my first gray hair this morning.

But let me tell you ( i am speaking from experience) when you pull them out they DO NOT disappear! they just grow back gray again only this time they are short grey and they stick straight up, so once you have enough of them sticking up like that you start to resemble a porcupine....yeah, my kids used to love to pull out my greys. then one morning I was looking in the mirror and here is all my long dark hair all smooth and shiny, then these little short gray ones sticking up, must have been about 50 of them, made me look like an alien!!!!!

well, I guess its a little to late for that, I pulled it.

just don't pull any more...and for heaven's sake don't let your kids start thinking it's a game!!!!

Deedee, just to let you know I just don't think I will ever look at a turkey the same again!!!!! Well atleast it will not have any gray hairs to worry about!

i know what you mean, i saw that and i was like ewwww, but its cute so i had to use it. i wanted to get in the holiday spirit like everyone else is around here. i am surprised Ismile hasn't commented on it yet???
