The netTALK DUO is fairly simple to set up. First, you have to register the device on the netTalk website, pick the phone number you want from a list of available numbers and then plug it into your router or computer and phone and it will configure itself. Once that process is complete, your phone will ring once with a green light indicating that your phone is ready to use.

Once my netTALK DUO was set up and ready to go, I had no problems receiving calls. At first, when I tried making calls, every number I called gave me a busy signal. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. So I checked out netTALK's Tech Tips on their website and then I realized that I wasn't dialing the area code before the number. Dialing out with the netTALK device requires you to dial with the area code, even on locally made calls so make sure you’re dialing the area code when calling out! Once I started entering the area code as directed, I could make calls perfectly. The calls are very clear, no static detected at all. I was skeptical about internet phone service, but so far it's working great. My parents were also interested in this device so I took mine to their house to try it out there. I'm not sure why, but we couldn't get it to work properly from their house. I would use my cell phone to call the netTALK DUO that was hooked up to their router, but every call wouldn't go through...sometimes it would ring at their house and sometimes it wouldn't. I guess we did something wrong when setting it up at my parents' house because I brought it back home and it is working perfectly again! I have never had to call their customer service, so I can't give an opinion on that.
