Sunbeam Pets Products & ShedMonster Review & Giveaway Ends 02/15 Ended
Sunbeam Pets Advanced Remote Trainer-Ultrasonic Collar
Teach and train your dog safely and effectively using the Advanced Remote Trainer. The Trainer can be used to assist with obedience training, behavior modification and to deter your dog from bad behaviors such as digging, chewing, barking, jumping or whining. The Remote Trainer has a range up to 150 yards and works on all breeds.
With a simple press of a button, the Advanced Remote Trainer emits an ultrasonic sound that deters the dog from the unwanted behavior. It is safe and pet friendly and emits a sound that only dogs can hear. The ultrasonic tone may startle the dog, but will not cause harm. The dog will quickly associate the unpleasant ultrasonic tone with the unwanted behavior.
My poodle mix, Charlie has a tendency to bark uncontrollably whenever he hears a car drive down our street, sees someone walking down the street or when someone knocks on our door. I wanted something to help teach him that that is unacceptable behavior without hurting him in the process. I hoped that the Sunbeam Pets Advanced Ultrasonic Remote Trainer would help me to do just that. However, this was not the case with Charlie. This collar has three settings: low, medium and high. The directions say to start out on low and if your dog doesn't react to it on low, then bump it up to medium and then high if needed. Charlie never reacted at all with this collar on low or medium other than to tilt his head or raise his ears. Once I put the collar on the high setting, he did move his head a little more, but the barking continued. I know that the collar is working because the control lights up and I can see the light on his collar light up, but he just doesn't seem to care. I was really hoping this collar would help control his barking, but I guess he's just too stubborn to "get it."
We also have an eight year old Dachshund mix who barks occasionally when someone knocks on the door so I put the collar on her just to test it out and she definitely reacted to it. Even on the low setting, she put her ears back and stopped barking. So, I know the collar works, I just think it depends on the dog....whether or not they are as stubborn as Charlie. I do believe that this collar would work great at deterring our older dog from unwanted behavior if she wasn't such a well behaved girl. So, in my honest opinion, I think this collar has the potential to be a really great tool, but I think it really does depend on the dog.
ShedMonster De-Shedding Tool
ShedMonsterâ„¢ De-Shedding Tool safely reduces shedding by 90%! This professional de-shedding tool easily sheds dogs and cats without irritating your pet's skin. Removes dead, unwanted hair that normally accumulates all over the house. Pulls dead hair, not healthy hair.
Our Dachshund mix, Lady has short hair and sheds really badly. We have tried several other types of de-shedding brushes and none have really done what they have claimed to do. I have been using the ShedMonster on Lady every few days for over a month and the amount of fur that she sheds has decreased. The ShedMonster does pull a descent amount of fur out of her coat, and works quite well at removing the shedding undercoat. And, she is not at all bothered by being brushed with this and it doesn't irritate her skin.
Sunbeam Pets Sonic Egg Bark Control Device
The Sonic Egg automatically detects barking and reacts by emitting a high-pitched ultrasonic sound that only dogs can hear. It can stand alone, hang on a tree or be mounted on any wall and can be used indoors or outdoors. It can detect barking from up to 50 feet away which makes it great for the noisy dog next door!
I set this egg up in our living room because of our puppy, Charlie and his bothersome barking when people knock on the door. It is activated by dogs barking, but also by other loud noises. If we talk really loudly or someone coughs, I can see the egg light up. Our pup, Charlie is one stubborn boy. I know he hears the egg emitting it's sound because he will turn his head to look at it, but it doesn't stop his barking and as he continues to bark, it drives our older dog, Lady to lay in her bed to get away from it. She can't stand when the egg "goes off." I believe this product will work really well with some dogs and not so well with others (like Charlie).
I also tested the Sonic Egg outdoors as well with the neighbor's dog. Sometimes they leave their dog outside in their back yard while they are away from the house and the dog will sit out there and bark constantly. It drives me crazy! When the neighbor's put their dog outside and left him alone, he started barking as usual. I walked outside and hung the egg from one of our trees overlooking their back yard and aimed it in their dogs direction and turned it on. Their dog barked a few more times, but suddenly he stopped barking completely! I wasn't sure if it would work, but it did...actually, it worked wonderfully. Now, when they leave him outside for extended periods, I just take the egg outside and hang it in the tree. Yay! No more barking!
