start a journal and list things like when you first found out you were pregnant, when you told your parents, the reactions etc, how you felt when you first saw her and heard her heartbeat. you can put these one or two liners on diff. pages (don't forget to put dates on them) and use diff. fonts and colors.
make a list of all the diff names people have suggested -incl. the funny ones.

When she gets old enough to eat baby food, write down what she likes, what she doesn't like, take pictures of the faces she makes when she eats. It's priceless and worth it!

I have a babybook for my daughter...I'll have to look through it and put some of whats in there in here for you to get some ideas. It's just 1:40am in the morning and I'm getting sleepy and everyone is asleep and I don't want to make noise for them to wake up trying to get the baby book out.

All great ideas....as Ashley said, when and what food is introduced. How about gifts received? What they are and from whom? And, of course, all doctor appointments. This is all so exciting.....makes me want to go look into my children's baby books. I have my son's first lock of hair that was cut off tied in a blue bow down....hahahahh.....I had the barber give it to me.

laura, do you still have the cute little packet the lipton green tea came in? that would be a cute thing to put the locks of hair or first teeth in. Placed mine in my next giftpack 4U.
• 1st time noticing herself in mirror
• 1st time pulling & holding herself up on 2 feet (ie. holding self up by table)
• 1st time babbles
• 1st time points at something
• 1st time takes notice of pet
• 1st time having fun in bubble bath (slapping water)
• 1st time when placed on back can roll onto stomach
• 1st time crawls
• 1st time sleeps thru the night
• 1st time wants/asks to be picked up/held
• 1st time giggles
• 1st time laughs (could this have not been said already?)
• Date out of diapers
• Date started potty training
• Date stopped wetting bed
• Date she says "freebie" (and sees Mommy losing it)
• Keep first piece of mail addressed to her
I'm glad i didn't forget this - this is my favorite. I have done this for nephews. Keep & save an entire newspaper dated the day of her birth & the next day. Reason: Keepsake for seeing what happened on B-Day so can see exact birthdate in print; But since things that happen on her birthdate won't get printed until the next day, you need to get next day's paper also. Thus you need 2 days of newspaper. Keep them intact & wrapped in plastic. Your daughter will love to read what was going on the day she was born when she gets older. I personally have papers documenting Ronald Reagan's election w/the 44 hostages released the same day; Pres. Obama's election & Inauguration Day; and the 1st 3 months of 9/11.
• 1st time injures herself
• 1st friend
• Save her first footwear/booties/shoes
• Save a piece that survives of her first blanket.
• Date she first drinks from [sippy?] cup
• Save her 1st handmade drawing/artwork for you
• Save the 1st flower she gives you
• Take note of 1st favorite stuffed animal/toy/doll
• Save first school report card
• Keep EVERY award (paper) & certificate she earns
• I suppose this is enough (for now) but another cool thing to do would be to save on a disk/CD/flashdrive, etc. everything from Sampletrain for posterity about 1-2 months after daughter is born. As media changes you can convert old-style format to newer. You can reminisce on your website everyones' comments towards your daughter before/after the event. You know she'll get a kick having seeing she was first referred to as "jelly bean".

This isn't for the baby book, but every Christmas (if you celebrate it) we get the kids a special ornament to hang on the tree and write their name/year on it so they know when they got it. We let them pick out which ornament we want. We are sometimes strapped for cash, but when the lil one gets old enough you can have her make her own. Little things like that make me so happy.

We also let the kids do the Christmas cards too. We didn't do any cards last year sad BUMMER. But this year we are letting the kids make them. Something special.

If u send birth announcements the old fashioned way [snail-mail], u can create ur own (maybe even print ur own?) postage stamps with ur daughter's image. Take digital photo(s) of daughter & turn them into authentic stamps. Place on envelope & they will get mailed & postmarked like postage. Yes, u have to pay. Not really scrapbook material, but u can save the stamp(s) in the scrapbook. I think u can get different/multiple stamp images also.
