Where in the world is the Sample Train!!!!

Every couple of hours, you give us a hint as to which city/country its in, until we guess it.

how would that work? would i actually use my location? everyone knows it!

Make one up. And then just us the intenet to look up facts about the place, so you have a list of hints to give out.

or from the 1000 posters in a thread, you can use random.org to draw out the winner/winners. just let everybody knows to post their corresponding number in the thread. like if im the first poster i have to put number 1 whoever follows will be 2 and so on so forth. then every poster has a number of limit to post everyday like 10 times a day until we reach 1000th. did i make sense? i hope so.

i think it will be exciting for everybody and as well as for you laura coz when you draw the winning numbers in random.org, you have to look for it in the thread and find out who it is, then announce the winner/winners if they dont respond in 24 hrs price forfeited, draw another number again.

How about everyone comes up with a slogan for Sample Train, and then you pick the best one to be the winner.

How about something like this: Any member with a join date of 4/18/10 or earlier is eligible. Similar to a 'baby pool' (where people guess the arrival of the newborn), members make 1 guess (date, hour & minute) when the 1000th member signs up. Optional: giving add'l guess for members during a SampleTrain contest (ie. like a 1-100 contest or different contest like when Laura asks to find a certain [colored] object somewhere on this site).

Or something like this: 1000th member gets a little something but has the opportunity for slight upgrade if he/she makes a new freebie post to site within 1 day after notified.

Why not a referral contest? This would be open to all members and for the 1000th member they get a prize and the person who referred them gets a prize. If the person is not referred than no one gets a prize for the referral.

How about a picture posting contest? Everyone posts of their hauls for a month and the one with the most wins.

Yea I mean the freebies. There are ways around digital cameras. My husband uses disposable cameras when he goes fishing and Costco gives him a disc with his pictures for free when he gets them developed. That way he can post pictures online.

I can't imagine people wanting to go out and buy a disposable camera, then they have to take enough to fill the roll, then they have to take it in to the store and pay to develop them so they can have the disc for their one pic of the freebies. It would probably cost more than it's worth.

The other thing would be, how do we know it's a "monthly" haul? I could see where you could cheat easy by putting in 2 months worth of freebies. There would be no way to monitor that.

I was just saying that there are ways to post pictures without all the fancy equipment. Heck I post pictures from my phone. I don't think it would be to hard to tell what people get in a month because of all the stuff we all get. Like the suave sample that came yesterday for my hubby. He has already used it. It's kind of like Mail Call only with pictures.

I was thinking that too...but I wonder if people use the samples to fast. Or like me, I get samples over and over again that are from posts months and month back. Like Breathe Rights and condoms I wonder if other people do that too?

So that is great that you get those from way back. I just thought that this would be a great way of showing new people that this stuff actually comes. Also maybe the contestants will have to list the pictures daily that way it would be easier to verify and check against what is posted on the site. I am sure that as mods we sign up for just about everything so we can get a general idea of when stuff comes.
