Listia is a new kind of auction site where you bid on other people's stuff using credits instead of real money. We make it easy for users to get rid of stuff they don't need anymore and find stuff they want for free. Listia is a marketplace where people enjoy giving and getting items for free.

Sign up for 100 credits, and there are other ways to earn more. You earn credits by bidding with your credits on items. If your not the highest bidder, you earn 5 credits. If you are the highest bidder, you dont pay your credits unless you win. You also earn credits by connecting with Facebook and Twitter (50 credits each).

Im already up to 215 credits!! Make sure you only bid on items that say "free shipping" because some charge for shipping. But there is a ton of free shipping items to bid on!!
Its fun, easy, and free!!

Anyone else using this one? I know Patty is.....I had her send me a referral to sign up so she gets extra points. Just curious if anyone else likes it as much as Patty. The more I look into it, the more interesting it becomes. Just listed my first auction so we'll see how that goes.

Girl, Im addicted!!! Your first 5 bids, even if your not the highest bidder, they give you 5 credits on each. Also, you can get a few more everyday by sharing auctions on Facebook. I think you can do that 4 times a day.
Make sure you fan them on facebook and twitter. 50 points each on those.

I find its best to bid on things that are ending in the AM. No one bids near the end because everyones at work. But you want your auction to end in the PM because everyone wants everything then. lol And stuff goes way up.
I got my Hello Kitty Stampers that way (AM). And the guy shipped them the next day too which was really nice.

You know Patty, I didn't think about that when I listed my auction. Any further ones I do I will setup to end later in the day. Thanks for mentioning.

Something else I noticed....in the rules it says you aren't allowed to put up coupons for auction but yet I see quite a few on there. Listia 213660

I dont think they check. I noticed quite a few coupons for free stuff. One of the Uncle Bens Rice coupons sold for almost 500 credits last week.

I'm addicted to this auction site now. FYI on some bonus point opportunities:

5 pts for posting a picture with your auction (max 3 per day)

15 pts for adding free shipping (max 3 per day)

25 bonus pts (this is in additon to the bonus pts above) for listing a video game (max 2, must include 1 pic, offer free shipping, put under catagory "video games"/sub catagory "games")

I don't have the know how for the putting stuff online for people to view. The only thing close to this I've done is buy stuff off ebay. And I payed with money order.
And since I do have a facebook account but can't use it because my dial up is wayyy to slow for that site. I get frozen there, I can't add or nothing. Heck I don't even know how to add yet because I've never been able to do it off my computer. So I'm just gonna have to wait it out till I get a new laptop and fast internet service! Listia 665132

Ismile, just think how much you'll appreciate new internet service when you do get it. You'll be grinning from ear to ear.

As for facebook, in my opinion, you aren't missing out on that much. I don't use facebook for a social network like it was intended for. I don't like too many people knowing my business. lol. I use it for samples/freebies and occassionally check up on our oldest son thru there when I think he's up to no good.

Yes, you get points just for joining and bidding on auctions. There are lots of ways to earn points. Sign up and you can see the ways that would pertain to you. I'm completely addicted to the site. Love it!

Well Jill I would love to but I have tried and now it says that I have already signed up for Listia. And I haven't ever before. So I don't know what the deal is with them but I emailed them to see if they would help me out. This sucks. Listia 831422 Listia 665132 Listia 152789

Okay. Now I got my account all ready...but I need to get more credits...I only have 55. And that is sometimes too low for bidding on stuff. I should wait till they auction is almost over for me to bid right?

Yes, but don't wait too long as you have dial up and it will take a bit longer for your bid to go thru. Wait until the last few minutes and see how that works time wise for you. I see that you pm'd me and I will reply with lots of tips for you. Just a bit busy right now. I don't recommend bidding on a weekend anyhow. Too much competition during a weekend. I get most of my items during the week days, morning and early afternoon hours for a lot less points.

Again, I'll pm you with lots of tips, etc. when I have more time. Listia 561787

Okay, got it. Hey why is it when I bidded something it automatically when up a credit right after mine? I mean it was like an automatic thing. Both times. I got outbidded. That quick. I did this before I came in here and read what you wrote. I thought they would give me 5 credits everytime I got outbidded??And I didn't ?? I'm so confussed. Listia Icon_scratch

You won't get credits every time you bid. The more active you are, the more often you will get credits for doing things. See my PM's to you.

For your outbidding problem.....someone must have bid a higher amount than you up front. For example, let's say the current bid is showing 25 and you bid 27. It came up and told you that you were outbid because that other current high bidder placed a higher bid on the item. When they bid, they may have put in a max of 50 so until you reach whatever that amount they put in as their max amount, it will tell you that you have been outbid. In the example I just gave, you would need to have put in a bid of at least 51 to outbid that person.

If I'm not going to be online when an auction I want is going to end, I submit my absolute max bid to get that item. Sometimes it works out and I win it because no one outbid me but other times it doesn't because someone was willing to go higher than me to get that particular item.

Oh...I see. Someone else might have put in like 50 credits wayyy prior to the auction or while the auction was in motion huh? How do we know what the silent highest bid is then? That sucks. I will just do it my way and your way. I've won 2 times so far waiting 2 minutes and something seconds because I have dial up and I won it. Also today is July 4th (holiday) and alot of people are doing things with friends and family. While I'm not. I have a good advantage here. Thanks for all your help and the tips. I will keep them in my pm. And when I forget something I'll just come in here and re-read it just to make sure.
You've been a really big help. Smile

You don't know what the highest bid is that someone else may have put in. You have to decide for you what your max would be on something and stick to it. Try not to get wrapped up in bidding higher and higher because you still aren't the highest bidder. Listia 191807
