[The Truth About Self Tanners Almost every tanner on the market today has at least one of these ingredients: Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, and/or Mineral Oil. All these ingredients have high pH levels of over 6! What does this mean? A pH of over 6 is the COLOR ORANGE!

I was sent a bottle of Famous Dave’s Moisture Tan GOLD LABEL (Brand NEW "Medium" self tanning lotion with Bronzer) and their famous application Mitt.

Per the instructions, I took a shower making sure to exfoliate well. I applied the rich creamy lotion with the mitt making sure to rub in thoroughly ( I mean really thoroughly!) and then had my husband apply the lotion to my back and neck. I tried to go lightly over my knees, elbows and ankles.

I was surprised I had to only wait five minutes to dress. After that it took 5-6 hours for the tan to appear. I was a nice medium brown with no hint of orange anywhere! I did have some really dark splotches on my ankles where I obviously applied too much and did not rub thoroughly! I tried putting some alcohol on a cotton ball and rubbed the splotches to remove the extra tanner and it worked!

I have had skin cancer in the past so the tanning bed is off limits to me. I love that I can now get a nice tan without worrying about the health of my skin. On my next tropical vacation, I will be nice and brown instead of pale white! I cannot wait!

43. Visited and learned: that it will get your skin as dark as you would like. Once applied, your color will develop in about 4 hours. After that time, if you would like a darker tan, just re-apply.
